Hollywood Burbank Airport (IATA: BUR; ICAO: KBUR), formerly called Bob Hope Airport after entertainer Bob Hope, is an airport in the southeastern corner of the San Fernando Valley, in the city of Burbank. The airport generally serves the purpose of one of many reliever airports in the Greater Los Angeles area, alongside John Wayne, Ontario, and Long Beach. Most of the flights out of Burbank serve other destinations in the western United States. However, jetBlue operates daily flights to New York City and Southwest Airlines is in the process of increasing flights towards the East Coast. In the recent past, Canadian low cost carriers Flair and Swoop used to provide international travel by connecting to the cities of Edmonton and Vancouver, although Flair switched their operations to LAX and WestJet dropped the Swoop project.
